School Psychologist Responsibilities

School psychologists work with children in grades K – 12, helping them with academic struggles, disabilities, behavioral and emotional issues. School psychologists promote wellness within a school by providing these students with anger management, social, and communication skills. Assessing students’ progress and collaborating with other educators is another major responsibility for school psychologists.

School Psychologist Requirements

Before you begin working as a school psychologist you need at a minimum a master’s degree. Many school psychologists go back to school and receive a Doctor of Education or Doctor of Philosophy. Most states, but not all, then require certification from the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) where they can then receive state licensure.

  • Onsite = Conducting gifted testing and writing evals

      Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test-Second Edition (NNAT-2) 
      Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fifth Edition (WISC-V)
      Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence-Second Edition (WASI-II)

 
Job Requirements

  • Master's in School Psychology is required
  • Must have School Psychologist Licensure in the state
  • Must be able to pass a drug and background check
  • Knowledge of psychological assessment tools, intervention strategies, and special education regulations.
  • Strong understanding of child development, learning disabilities, and mental health issues affecting students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working in a school setting is preferred.

Interview Process

  • 10-15 minute screening call with a ProCare Recruiter
  • 20-30 minute virtual/in-person interview with school district
  • Offer is typically within 24 hours of virtual interview

As a ProCare employee, you will be paid on a weekly basis through direct deposit. Your hourly rate will be dependent upon your experience and education.
