Paraprofessional Duties

Paraprofessionals work in collaboration with a licensed teacher in a classroom setting. When teachers present new lessons or materials, paraprofessionals help reinforce what was taught in small group settings or individually to students. As a paraprofessional, teachers seek feedback from you on the progress of students and they may need you to assist in grading students' coursework. If you are a special education paraprofessional, you may be required to shadow a specific group of students throughout the day and to work with them and their teachers inside the classroom.

Paraprofessional Requirements

A majority of school districts require that paraprofessionals complete at minimum two years of education and that they obtain an associate’s degree. Some states and districts have an assessment certification that is required as well. Generally speaking, paraprofessionals need strong communication skills to discuss students’ progress with teachers and parents. Patience and resourcefulness are additional qualities that are important to possess.

ProCare Therapy is seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Paraprofessional to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special needs.

ProCare Therapy Benefits/Compensation: 

  • Starting hourly pay rate of $18-25+/hr
  • Weekly pay throughout the entirety of the assignment as a W-2 Employee

Everyday Duties: 

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional activities and strategies.
  • Work closely with students, providing individualized support and assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with special education teachers and other team members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to students.

Interview Process:

  • 15 minute screening phone call with a ProCare Therapy representative
  • 30 Minute zoom interviews with the district
  • Offers are typically 24/48 hours after an interview
  • You will be provided an interview prep sheet prior to the interview process
