Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Opening – SY 23/24 Pittsburgh, PA

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) position in Pittsburgh, PA for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. This role can be filled on a full-time or part-time basis.

Position Details:

• Students: Serving those with severe to complex visual impairments
• In-person instruction is preferred, but virtual/remote may be considered for full-time positions
• Special education certification or willingness to obtain an emergency permit is required

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
• Utilize assistive technology and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to promote student success
• Conduct assessments and monitor progress towards IEP goals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid Teaching Certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or Special Education
• Ability to obtain an emergency TVI permit if not currently certified (training provided)
• Experience working with students with severe/complex disabilities is preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
• Passion for educating students with visual impairments and special needs
