Job Description:
We are currently seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team in Mukwonago, WI, for the remainder of the school year. This is a full-time position working with a cross-categorical caseload of 5th and 6th-grade students.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse learning needs, including those with specific learning disabilities, emotional or behavioral disorders, and other exceptionalities.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in core academic subjects, adapting curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet individualized goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to create inclusive learning environments and promote the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional practices and assistive technologies to differentiate instruction and accommodate students' diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress and adjust instructional strategies and interventions as needed to ensure student success.
- Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to support students' social skills development and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and individualized goals, fostering positive partnerships and engagement in the educational process.
- Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and collaborative planning sessions to support the continuous improvement of special education services and programming.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Active Special Education Teaching License in the state of Wisconsin.
- Previous experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with specific learning disabilities, emotional or behavioral disorders, and other exceptionalities.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Wisconsin state standards.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders.
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
