Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Adapt instructional strategies and materials to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to create an inclusive classroom environment.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in small group or one-on-one settings.
- Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and IEP goals.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders regarding student progress.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with elementary school students with special needs.
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic educational environment.
Location: The position is based in Calumet City, a vibrant community located in Illinois. Calumet City offers a rich cultural heritage, excellent schools, and a strong commitment to education.
Employment Details:
- Hourly pay rate commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- Full-time hours, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar.
- Contracted position for the 2023-2024 school year, with the potential for renewal.
