We are currently seeking a talented and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team on a contract basis in Richmond, CA.

Job Description: As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. You will collaborate with a team of educators and specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), promote academic growth, and foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, as well as specialized instruction in areas such as reading, math, and social skills development.
  • Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the unique needs and learning styles of students with diverse abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff to modify curriculum, accommodations, and interventions as needed.
  • Assess student progress regularly using a variety of assessment tools and methods, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of student progress, attendance, and behavior.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid California teaching credential with special education endorsement.
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community partners.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  • Must pass a background check and provide required documentation for employment eligibility.
