Job Description:
We are currently seeking two dedicated Special Education Self-Contained Teachers to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. The selected candidates will work with students in a self-contained classroom setting, providing specialized instruction and support to meet their diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the individualized academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of students with disabilities.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students, setting appropriate goals, accommodations, and modifications based on assessment data and student progress.
- Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, life skills, and social skills, using a variety of teaching methods and assistive technologies to engage and support students with diverse learning needs.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters students' independence, self-confidence, and sense of belonging.
- Use data-driven decision-making to monitor student progress, assess effectiveness of instruction, and adjust interventions as needed to ensure student growth and achievement.
- Collaborate with other special education staff, general education teachers, related service providers, and parents/guardians to coordinate services and supports for students with disabilities.
- Implement behavior management strategies and interventions to address challenging behaviors and promote positive behavior outcomes for students.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and behavior, and communicate regularly with parents/guardians and other stakeholders about student performance and goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Arizona Special Education certification or eligibility for certification through reciprocity.
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
- Experience working with students with disabilities in a school or educational setting, preferably in a self-contained classroom environment.
- Knowledge of best practices in special education, including evidence-based instructional strategies, behavior management techniques, and assessment tools.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to advocating for and supporting the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
