About the Role 

Are you a passionate and experienced Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) seeking a rewarding opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of students with hearing impairments? If so, we invite you to join our dynamic team as an SLI for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year in Fort Myers, FL. 

School Sign Language Interpreter

In this role, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication and ensuring equal access to education for students with hearing impairments. You will work closely with teachers, students, and parents to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately and fluently interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in a variety of educational settings, including classrooms, group activities, and individual instruction.
• Collaborate effectively with teachers to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet the specific needs of each student.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance to students to help them develop their communication skills and achieve their academic goals.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interpretation services provided.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date on the latest ASL interpreting techniques and strategies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in ASL or a related field
• Certificate of Interpretation (CI) from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent
