Contract School Psychologist - Second Semester

At ProCare, our mission is to encourage each child to confidently and proudly achieve his or her full potential. We are working with a school district located in Portsmouth, RI that is looking to hire a school psychologist for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year with the opportunity to renew for the following school year.

A school psychologist is responsible for providing psychological services to students, staff, and parents in an educational environment. They assess and address students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs, support the development of appropriate intervention strategies, and collaborate with educators and families to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Caseload: 

  • Full time: 37.5 hours per week
  • Hours: 7:30 - 3:30
  • K-12 grade caseload
  • Assessments, evaluations, observations, collect, analyze data and lead meetings
  • Itinerant position: 1-4 school sites

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Conduct psychological assessments to identify students' strengths and challenges, including learning disabilities, emotional disorders, and other mental health concerns.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students to address emotional and behavioral issues, offering strategies for coping and improving mental health.
  • Assist in crisis response and intervention for students and the school community during critical incidents, such as trauma, bullying, or other emergencies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop strategies and interventions to support students' academic and social-emotional needs.
  •  Develop and implement prevention programs and workshops on topics like bullying, stress management, substance abuse prevention, and mental health awareness.
  •  Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans for students with disabilities to ensure they receive appropriate educational services.

Requirements:

  • Master's or Doctorate level degree in School Psychology
  • Active School Psychologist license in Rhode Island
  • Previous school experience is required
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check

Interview Process:

  • 10 –15 minute screening call with a ProCare Therapy Recruiter
  • 20-30 Minute virtual interview directly with the school district
  • Offer is typically within 24-48 hours of the virtual interview

The selected candidate will be hired on as a full time contracted employee through ProCare Therapy. A full school year contract will be awarded for you to complete.
