School Nurse Job Near Schenectady, NY

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced School Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical care and support to approximately 350 students in a school setting near Schenectady, NY. The position is full-time and the nurse would be the only nurse on-site, with the opportunity to shadow the current nurse in the beginning.

Responsibilities:

• Provide medical care and support to students with acute and chronic health conditions
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
• Monitor students with chronic health conditions such as diabetes and allergies
• Develop and implement health care plans for students with special health care needs
• Provide health education and counseling to students, families, and staff
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of medical records and communications with parents and physicians
• Collaborate with school staff to ensure a healthy and safe school environment
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities as required

Requirements:

• Current RN license in the state of New York
• Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a school nurse or in a pediatric nursing setting
• Experience working with diabetic students in the 1st and 3rd grades preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
