Contract Private Duty School Nurse LPNÂ for 2023-2024 School Year

We are working with a school district located in Middletown, NY that is looking to hire an LPN for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year with the opportunity to renew for the following school year.
A 1:1 school nurse plays a crucial role in ensuring that a student with specific healthcare needs can attend school safely and access the education they require. They serve as a bridge between the medical and educational worlds, working to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Job Type: Contract 1:1 School NurseÂ
- Full time: 35 hours per week
- Monday - Friday
- 1:1 with student that requires medical care during school hours
- LPN will be required to ride the bus in the mornings and afternoons with student
- Responsibilities will include: trach care, seizure monitoring, g-tube care, medication administration, feeding, wheelchair assistance, and classroom assistance
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of the student's health condition and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the student's healthcare team and parents/guardians.
- Â Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and medical interventions as needed, ensuring compliance with state laws, school policies, and medical orders.
- Continuously monitor the student's vital signs, symptoms, and overall health status during school hours. Recognize and respond to changes promptly.
- Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, such as seizures, allergic reactions, or other health crises, following established
- Provide education and training to school staff, including teachers and aides, regarding the student's medical condition, emergency procedures, and the administration of medications or medical devices.
- Maintain open and effective communication with the student's parents/guardians, healthcare providers, and school personnel to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to the student's care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of the student's health assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment. Ensure compliance with confidentiality and privacy regulations.
- Serve as an advocate for the student's health and educational needs, working to create a safe and supportive school environment that accommodates their medical condition.
Qualifications:
- Active LPNÂ license in New York
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience in pediatric nursing or a related field is preferred.
- Must be able to pass background check and drug screen

The selected candidate will be hired on as a full time contracted employee through ProCare Therapy. A full school year contract will be awarded for you to complete.
