Job Description:
As a School Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between deaf or hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school staff. Your responsibilities will include interpreting lectures, classroom discussions, and other school activities, as well as providing support during one-on-one sessions and extracurricular activities. Additionally, you will collaborate with teachers and other professionals to ensure that the educational environment is accessible and inclusive for all students.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification)
- Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing individuals in an educational setting preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and environments
