Job Description:
We are currently seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to join our team in Brooklyn Center, MN. The selected candidates will have the opportunity to work with students in grades K-8 with a range of disabilities in various classroom settings, including self-contained, resource, and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that goals and objectives are tailored to their unique learning needs and abilities.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both whole-group and small-group settings, utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies and accommodations/modifications as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers to facilitate the inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education curriculum and activities.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress, analyze data, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to maximize student growth and achievement.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment that fosters students' social, emotional, and academic development, while also promoting independence and self-advocacy skills.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies for supporting student success at home and school.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, progress, and behavior, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid teaching license or certification in Special Education for the state of Minnesota.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in a school setting.
- Knowledge of best practices in special education instruction, including differentiated instruction, behavior management, and individualized support.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
