Deaf/Hear of Hearing Teacher (DHHT) - Mechanicsburg, VA

Job Title: Deaf and Heard of Hearing Teacher 
Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
Job Type: Full Time 

We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHHT) to join our passionate team . You will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, fostering an inclusive learning environment, and empowering students to achieve academic success.

Responsibilities:

1. Assess sign language needs for students. 
2. Teach sign language instruction for students in conjunction with regular classroom curriculum as appropriate for each student.
3. Work with interpreters to develop hearing impaired student support schedules.
4. Use and teach the use of augmentative and assistive technology.

Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
2. Valid Pennsylvania certification as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher.
3. Active PA clearances. 
4. Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and effective teaching strategies for students with hearing impairments.
5. Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate different communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL).
