Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher - Oakland, CA
 

ProCare Therapy is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join our team in Oakland, CA. As a contracted DHH Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of students with hearing impairments by providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with hearing impairments.
  • Provide direct instruction to students in a variety of subjects, adapting teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to ensure the successful inclusion of DHH students in the general education setting.
  • Assess students’ progress regularly and make adjustments to instructional strategies as needed.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic and social-emotional growth of DHH students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid California Teaching Credential with authorization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, accommodations, and assistive technologies for students with hearing impairments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to inclusive education.
